Frequently asked questions

Short answers, no fine print. For the deep version of the safety question, read the etiquette guide.

What is MemesForWork?

MemesForWork is a free library of workplace-safe memes for Slack and Microsoft Teams. You pick a work situation — standup, code review, deploy day, a deadline, Friday afternoon — and get an original text meme card you can copy into chat, with a note on posting it safely.

What does workplace-safe actually mean here?

Every card jokes about a situation, never about a person, a protected characteristic, a customer or a company. Each card carries a short Safe note, and the site follows the all-hands recap test: if it would look fine in the company recap attributed to you, it belongs here.

Are these the original meme images?

No. Cards are original text: an emoji, the name of a well-known format, the situations it fits and a usage line we wrote. We describe formats; we do not host or hotlink anyone's images. The formats referenced belong to their original creators.

How do I use a card in Slack?

Hit Copy for Slack on any card and paste. The format is Slack mrkdwn-friendly. Copy Markdown is the version for GitHub, Notion, docs and READMEs.

Do you store anything I type?

No. Search and filtering happen entirely in your browser. There are no accounts and the site has no server that receives your text.

How much does it cost?

The library is free. A Pro tier at $9 per month is planned for team collections and custom situation packs; it is not on sale yet and nothing is billed today.

Can I suggest a situation or a card?

Yes — that is exactly what the contact page is for. The best suggestions are universal situations: the standup after a holiday, the demo that worked in rehearsal, the ticket that cloned itself.

Is there a version for non-work chat?

Yes, from the same maker: the footer links eleven sibling meme tools, including ReactionFinder for finding reaction memes by feeling and MemesForDiscord for community servers.
